Gabriele Mucchi
Gabrielle Mucchi born on 25.06.1899 in Turin Italy. He was a painter, graphic artist and architect. He is considered a co-founder of the new realism.
After graduating from high school, Mucchi, from 1916 to 1923 studied civil engineering and architecture, at the University of Bolognia. This was interrupted by military service in 1917-1918.
After his war service he lived in Berlin for a long time. Later he returned to Italy. After graduating, he first worked in a construction company in Rome and from 1927 in an architectural office in Milan.
As a designer, Mucchi, who had worked for Emilio Pino's furniture factory between 1935 and 1945. Impressed by the possibilities of tubular steel, as realized by Le Corbusier and Giuseppe Terragni.
In 1935 he designed the adjustable reclining chair "Genni". The frame was made of chrome-plated or fire-painted steel, and the covers were made of leather. Which, however, did not bring such great success. In the following years his name became known beyond the borders of Italy through impressive murals.
His studio became the meeting place of the anti-fascist group Lorenta. Gabrielle Mucchi died on 10.05.2002 at the age of 103 in Milan.
