The cubic shape and the sewn leather squares of the Josef Hoffmann two-seater sofa clearly indicate a connection to his nick name - translated as "cubic-Hoffmann".

Josef Hoffmann sofa models were produced in very small numbers at the time. It is assumed that the manageable production numbers of the Hoffmann sofa models were related to an exhibition that Josef Hoffmann had organized.

Just as in the Le Corbusier LC2 sofa the clear cubic shape makes it recognizable. In comparison, the Josef Hoffmann two-seater sofa Kubus appears more massive and thus exudes a completely different character.
