Mies van der Rohe Barcelona Armchair

The Barcelona armchair is probably the most famous piece of furniture designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The armchair was designed for the German pavilion at the 1929 World's Fair in Barcelona - hence the naming.

At the 1929 World's Fair, the Barcelona armchair was reserved for the Spanish royal couple. Everyone else was only allowed to sit on the corresponding stools.

However, "Mies" armchair has long reached a broad spectrum of people and is now one of the most famous and sought-after modern classics. The Rohe Barcelona armchair adorns convention halls, reception areas, medical practices, law firms as well as private living spaces.

Interior design tip: Customize your Barcelona armchair. Order the armchair with contrasting leather straps for a small extra charge. (looks stunning!)

Like all of our furniture, this designer armchair is handcrafted in select Italian workshops.

Dimensions:

- Height approx. 75 cm (2'6'') x Width approx. 75 cm (2'6'') x Depth approx 75 cm (2'6'')

Due to the special situation (pandemic, etc.), the production time of the furniture classic is starting at about 10 weeks. In addition, about 5 to 8 working days for delivery. Depending on the destination. (As of February 2022)

Would you have known?
The small squares of the Barcelona's seat and back upholstery are cut by hand using presses and later sewn together. 126 pieces are needed for this process to end up with a finished armchair. Again, all done by hand and hard to believe: it´s still affordable!

In addition to the mentioned press punching process and the joining of the individual squares by hand (sewing), the models of the Barcelona armchair and stool series are manufactured in the LUXURY version (marked with "LUX"). This corresponds to the process of Knoll International and can be easily added to existing models from this series. You will be delighted!

Cheap suppliers with products from the Far East will not be able to offer you these quality features. See also the attached picture in the article picture gallery.
